In general, it is rare for grantmakers to receive an excess of requests from Community Partners projects during any given grant cycle. However, because every grantmaker operates differently, you should always consult with the fund and award administration team to find out if there are any considerations that might better position your proposal for funding.
Community Partners projects successfully raise over $50 million each year. Occasionally, projects apply to the same funders at the same time. Many grantmakers provide awards to multiple Community Partners projects simultaneously, based on the strength of the projects' programs and applications. In other words, projects of Community Partners are usually treated as individual organizations and compete on the same basis as independent 501(c)(3)s.
On rare occasions, a grantmaker will limit an application to one tax ID number per grant period. This is a deliberate decision made by the grantmaker. If multiple projects want to apply for a grant that only allows one application from Community Partners, the situation will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Community Partners works to be fair to all projects. Please speak to fund and award administration team in the rare case that this comes up.
When Community Partners encounters the rare funder or public agency that will not accept fiscally-sponsored projects, staff makes every effort to educate them and advocate for changes to this policy.
