If your project works with vulnerable populations, such as children (0-17 years), seniors (65 years +), or adults with disabilities, you are required to have sexual abuse and molestation insurance. There is a flat charge for this insurance – generally about $300 per year (although this can vary).
More importantly, if your project works with vulnerable populations you must be intentional about implementing practical risk-management strategies to avoid possible problems. This includes, but is not limited to, proper supervision of staff and volunteers, as well as training and policies to prevent misconduct. Examples of steps you should take include live scan fingerprinting of employees and volunteers, recurring trainings, effective supervision, and incident reporting procedures. If you need additional resources or information, please talk to our human resources staff at HR@communitypartners.zendesk.com who can help you plan and implement appropriate policies and procedures.
