Let us help you with Organizational Assessment!
Community Partners is excited to launch a new Capacity Building initiative to help your organization improve performance. We hosted a Learning Event on June 11, 2024 to introduce Organizational Assessment, what it is, and how it can benefit your organization. If you missed the event, you can view the recording here:

We use the Ford Foundation's Organizational Mapping Tool to help guide all assessment processes. In some cases, we may make adjustments to the tool to make sure that it accurately reflects your organization's identity. You can get more information or express interest in completing an organizational assessment with us by emailing ktorres@communitypartners.org.
Why is Organizational Assessment important?
- Help build your organization’s capacity.
- Help your organization validate its work.
- Diagnose problems and propose interventions.
- Improve the engagement and experience of your employees.
- As a communication tool to dialogue with your organization’s stakeholders, both internal and external.
- Help with the strategic planning of your organization.
What are the outcomes of the assessment?
- A clear sense of how your organization sees itself on key aspects of organizational development;
- A short list of highest priorities for institutional strengthening;
- Key steps your organization can take on its own to make progress in each area; and
- A list of specific requests that could be made of a funder in a grant proposal for each area (if appropriate).
How long does Organizational Assessment Take?
On average, the process takes from five-seven two-hour sessions to complete fully. You will work with your CP Programs team member to adjust the schedule and process to fit your organization's context and needs. Some of our partners have completed the assessment in its entirety in 6 weeks, while others have taken up to 8 weeks.
Who should participate?
- 3-5 representatives from each organization from multiple vantage points
- At least one member of advisory board
- be mindful of representation across personal identity (race, ethnicity, caste, gender, gender identity, etc.) and lived experience.
What does participation look like?
- About 1-hr to complete the evaluation;
- Active participation in 5-7 data analysis sessions,
- Willingness to participate and be in dialogue with teammates
