How are insurance rates determined for our project?

Coverage

The insurance rates for your project are determined based on a number of factors. The administrative fees cover a portion of your general liability insurance rate. Since your project conducts activities that are unique to your work, additional coverage may be required. The rates for this additional coverage may be passed along to your project. Additional coverage and fees may be incurred for the  following:

• Property - if your project rents space or owns equipment
  
  
• Events - if your project hosts fundraiser, community gatherings, or other events
  
  
• Improper conduct - if your project works with vulnerable populations
  
  
• Social service professional liability - if you have licensed social service professionals, including counselors or therapists.

Cost

Since we purchase insurance for over 150 projects, the collective rate allows Community Partners to make insurance coverage available to projects at rates that are typically lower than rates available to independent nonprofits, another example of the benefits of economies of scale offered to projects of Community Partners.

The total premium for your project will be determined by Community Partners' insurance carrier after reviewing your submitted insurance report. Please make sure to disclose all activities for the coming year in that report. Failure to provide information in the report may end up costing your project more money should you need to add additional coverage at a later date.
