In addition to the 11 paid holidays designated for all employees, Community Partners also has a floating holiday option. Each employee may choose two additional paid holidays to observe, including birthdays, anniversaries, or cultural holidays.
Here are some frequently asked questions related to the floating holiday policy:
Can the floating holidays be used in the days immediately before or after the 11 holidays we currently get? For example, could a floating holiday be used for the 3rd and/or 5th of July in conjunction with the holiday on the 4th?
- The answer is no, if you’re only trying to extend a holiday. However, if your birthday is on July 3, then you could use that day as a floating holiday and take both July 3rd and 4th off. Floating holidays can only be used for a birthday, anniversary, or cultural holiday.
Is this for all employees to choose individually, or can a project pre-designate these?
- Each employee has the freedom to choose their own two floating holidays. However, projects can choose to observe additional holidays if they so desire. Designating Veterans Days as a holiday for all employees is an example of this. Doing so, however, would not change the two floating holidays each employee receives.
How do I designate a particular date as one of my Floating Holiday options?
Find the Floating Holiday designation on the drop down list under ‘Submit Time Off Request’ in Paylocity.
As with our vacation policy outlined on page 18 of the employee handbook, all regular full-time employees are entitled to Community Partners’ designated holidays; regular part-time employees working at least 20 hours per week AND normally scheduled to work on the day the holiday falls are entitled to pro-rated holiday pay based on the number of hours they would have worked on that day. The same applies to the floating holidays. Floating holidays do not apply to on-call and temporary employees, or part-time employees working less than 20 hours per week.
